Cricket in the United States is growing fast. USA Cricket's 2028 World Cup hosting ambitions and the explosion of Major League Cricket have created a genuine development pathway for young American cricketers that didn't exist a decade ago. Here's what that pathway looks like for players in Georgia — and how Sixers Sports Center fits into it.
What Is USA Cricket?
USA Cricket is the governing body for the sport in the United States, an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC). It oversees all representative cricket programs from junior national teams through to the men's and women's senior national sides, and it administers the player development pathway for youth cricketers across the country.
The Southeast region — which includes Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and the Carolinas — has one of the fastest-growing cricket populations in the country, driven largely by South Asian diaspora communities in Atlanta's northern suburbs.
The USA Cricket Development Pathway
Local Academy Training
The foundation of the pathway. Players develop core technical skills at an accredited academy like Sixers Sports Center under ICC-certified coaches. This stage typically covers ages 7–15.
Regional Club Competition
Players join local cricket clubs affiliated with Southeast USA Cricket. Competition in age-group and open divisions builds match experience and provides selectors with assessment opportunities.
Southeast Regional Programs
Standout players are identified for Southeast regional training squads. These squads compete in inter-regional tournaments and serve as the primary talent pipeline for national selections.
USA Cricket U19 / National Programs
The top players from regional programs are selected for USA Cricket's Under-19 national program — and ultimately the senior national team. USA Cricket competed in the 2024 T20 World Cup, reaching the Super 8.
What the 2024 T20 World Cup Means for Georgia Kids
USA Cricket's historic run in the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup — which included a famous win over Pakistan — changed the conversation about cricket in America. For the first time, there is genuine national team visibility, professional league opportunities (Major League Cricket), and a credible pathway from academy to international cricket without emigrating.
For parents in Johns Creek: your child is not training in isolation. The talent they develop at Sixers Sports Center feeds directly into regional and national selection conversations. Several Sixers alumni are currently competing in Southeast regional cricket programs.

Is My Child Good Enough for the Pathway?
The pathway is not just for future international players — it's for any cricketer who wants to compete seriously. Most players who enter structured development programs and train consistently will find their way to club competition and regional leagues, which is a rewarding sporting career in its own right.
The question isn't whether your child is "good enough" today — it's whether they have the foundation, the training environment, and the coaching to develop their potential. That's exactly what Sixers Sports Center is built to provide.
